REFLECTION #1
October 2nd 2014

It has been a while since I actually completed the timeline for when I would write my reflections. I told myself that I would write my reflections with every four reviews I had completed, and I have kind of been waiting for an opportunity to be able to write my first reflection.

I have already learned a lot and accomplished a lot more than I thought I would within the first two months of CAS requirements. As of right now, my goodreads page has over 60 friends, my facebook page has over 315 likes, my blog is followed by 50 people on bloglovin’, 30 people on GFC, and I have over 178 followers on my Twitter page.

Granted, some of these followers I have already had before the CAS hours had started, however I do feel that these followers have only grown due to the amount of time that I am able to put into my book blog and also, how the quality has changed.

Something new that I have been trying to do these past few months is look at other book bloggers for advice. I have already found a couple of great pages, that go into detail about how to reuqest ARCs from publishers, how to practice HTML coding, and even how important it is to write what pleases you.

Also, within the past two months, especially on twitter, I have been interacting so so much with other people. I used to be the person that was scared to have a Twitter, or to be online, or to even just say her first name on her blog posts. Suddenly, as soon as school started, that all seemed to fade away. Now I am out there, chatting with fellow book bloggers, tweeting authors the links to my reviews and even participating in “Twitter Chats” or “Twitter Parties” with authors! Just in the past month, I have been able to talk to Josephine Angelini, Marie Lu, and Jay Asher, all of which have answered my questions! (I even had a free book sent to me by Josephine Angelini’s publisher for participating in the live chat!).

One of the biggest things that I have done in the past two months would have to be this: I changed my domain. I am no longer www.iturnthepages.blogspot.com, but rather www.iturnthepages.com. This means everything I have ever wanted is turning into a reality. I was also able to change the appearance of my blog drastically in order to go with the excitement of finally getting a real domain. It may seem small to some people, but to me, it means the world to me that I am able to continue practicing the things that I love.

I also sent my first ARC request in September, which I will insert below. It was nice to be able to get some assistance from some of the book bloggers that I have talked to, and I have also been able to pass on that knowledge to other new book bloggers that need the assistance as well. I’m super anxious to see if I actually wind up with an ARC of the book, but I know that if I do not, it is okay and that I can always try again with another book in the future.

Overall, I am having a great time. I plan to write reviews on Falling into Place, Hex Hall and Dust to Dust this month, and I will maybe throw a Halloween book in there somewhere. :) I also plan to make a “Twitter Party” page for me so that I can track my blogging events throughout the year and time that I have been doing blogging. I also plan to renovate my Review Queue page. I better get on it!
